Rex Whisman, Founder and Chief Strategist

Rex WhismanRex Whisman is a recognized thought leader in educational brand building and known as a cultural change agent. As the former assistant vice chancellor for communications and marketing at the University of Denver, Rex led one of the groundbreaking approaches to educational branding. He now brings his expertise in identity building to other organizations. Rex possesses an international perspective to brand development, having conducted speaking engagements at state, national and international conferences in Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States.

Rex Whisman is a member of the Academy of Marketing and Business Marketing Association as well as past vice president for brand management of the American Marketing Association. Rex holds an M.S. in Communications Management and a B.A. in History from Colorado State University.

Public Relations and Communications Strategist:
Stephanie Blake, Ph.D.

Stephanie Blake has 15 years of experience practicing and teaching strategic communications. With in-depth knowledge of communication planning and implementation, Stephanie brings a unique combination of practice and theory to all projects. Stephanie was assistant professor of communication at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs where she developed a strategic communication program for the department and taught courses in public relations and mass communication. She serves on the board for the Public Relations Society of America. Stephanie received a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Minnesota, an M.S. in public relations from the University of Denver and a B.A. in English from the College of Wooster.

Communications Specialist:
Tamara Chapman

Tamara Chapman is an expert writer and BrandED’s communications specialist. Her ability to crystallize educational marketing language is exemplary. Tamara has worked with a number of organizations including the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, Archdiocese of Northern Colorado Catholic Schools, University of Denver and others. Tamara successfully creates educational marketing language that is authentic, compelling and concise. Her expertise has played a significant role for numerous successful educational branding and marketing projects that have proved differentiated and sustainable. Tamara earned her M.A. in European History from the University of Texas-Austin and her B.A. in Journalism from the University of Texas-El Paso.

Creative Strategist:
Jim Good

Jim Good is an accomplished graphic designer, with over twenty-five years of experience. He specializes in identity, brand strategy and visual communications. With extensive experience managing projects and delivering audience-driven communications, he has worked with several Fortune 500 companies, including American Airlines. To strengthen and enhance brand awareness, Jim has collaborated with a number of interdisciplinary teams focused on creating innovative and customer-centered communications. Jim has owned a successful design business and overseen efficient in-house operations, most recently as director of creative and brand at the University of Denver. Jim earned his B.F.A. from Colorado State University.

Research Principal & Web Consultant:
Karen Harolds

Karen Harolds has conducted primary and secondary research for corporations and nonprofits including problem definition, research design, defining data sources, sample sizes and conclusive reporting. She has experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Scope of projects have included customer satisfaction/switching intentions, brand loyalty, and new product testing. Karen also has extensive experience in integrated marketing communications including PR and graphic design. She has helped clients with web design, usability, development and seo. Karen earned her M.S. in Marketing from the University of Colorado Denver, her B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Colorado State University and her Webmaster certification rom NACSE.

Erik’s focus on branding can be traced through his experiences working with top advertising agencies, design firms, in-house creative teams, brand and design strategists and interactive developers.
